Children's Musuem
New York, new york
This converted loft in SoHo serves as both studio for creating art and functions as display space for exhibiting illustrations of children's books, puppets and sculpture.
The entry space houses a small 'museum store' offering toys, books and art supplies. Taking advantage of the double height loft space, the first floor also provides a play area with computer stations for kids, with the museum's offices in a 'treehouse' above. Multifunction performance space resides on the lower floor for theater, dance, and a 'ballroom' for play. Bright primary colors emphasize the vertical elements within the neutral building envelope.
Wormser + Associates worked closely with the museum's exhibitors to create a children's 'safe haven' for creative learning and a dynamic studio experience for both children and adults.
